Tennessee Reunion
Jim’s dad came from Tennessee, where he was one of 12 kids in the family of a farmer/preacher.
Every ten years or so, the family has a reunion, and the last time Jim attended was 1987. There are 33 cousins in his generation, 56 great-grandchildren like Tyler and Cameron, and now 20 great-great-grandchildren.
94 of us gathered together this week in Athens TN, and we also made some side trips to visit:
-Chickamauga Battlefield outside Chattanooga;
-Gatlinburg and Cherokee, NC outside of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park (Cameron is part Cherokee Indian, so it was a great heritage exploration trip for him).
-the farm where Jim’s dad grew up
-the Creasman family cemetery
-the local dairy that is the biggest employer
-Asheville, NC, where a quarter of the Creasmans in the US live.
We had a great time connecting with family and sharing our history. I have to say that I also fell in love with the Tennessee countryside, that I now consider about the most beautiful scenery in the US.
