January in Singapore. Thanks for Praying!

Ten Years Ago This Month…
After a year of exploring cross cultural ministry options, praying and asking advice, we made our decision to uproot from our home in LA, and move long-term to Singapore (via 2 years in China). Thank you for being part of the team of friends who encourage and support us as we follow Jesus and serve him in Asia. I hope you’re world vision is broader and your lives are richer as you’ve partnered and prayed with us in this journey that took us to Asia in 1997.

Sally & Franklin suggested going 1/2s on an Xbox 360.
A better gift than the kids had dared to dream of!

Gross jelly beans from friends in USA.
Have you ever tasted grass or ear wax? YUCK!

JANUARY: A New Year!
We ended the year with loads of Christmas gatherings, pouring rain, staying in Singapore for family down time to play, reflect and look ahead to the new year. We welcomed 2007 watching fireworks over the city, and lighting sparklers off the balcony with our friends Sally & Franklin. They’ve become like family to us and staying in our guest room, when they take a break from their life in Shanghai, China to come back and visit family and friends here.

Thanking and Praising God!
For a long time we’ve been asking you to pray with us for Singaporean partners in ministry. Jim has been more ‘behind the scenes’ as he set up the organization. He has longed for other pastors who’ve been impacted by their mentoring in a Focusing Leaders Network to be called to join him as staff for CRM Singapore (CRMS). In December, Andy Lim, who has been a CRMS board member, made his decision to partner with Jim. He has resigned from his church position and hopes to raise full support in this new ministry by February 1! Along with Andy are two others, Pastor Shoo How Beng and Koh Seng Chor, a seminary grad who was a trainer in his marketplace career, who are committed to partnering with Jim to establish CRMS and strengthen Christian leaders in Asia. Keith Webb, our CRM colleague here, has been great support and encouragement in seeing this come about. We’re thrilled to see some of the puzzle pieces fit into place by God’s sovereign hand!

Healing
The morning after sending our last email prayer letter, asking for prayer about my chronic neck & shoulder pain, K! woke up pain free for the first time in months. I’ve been pain free ever since. Wasn’t that a nice Christmas gift from the Lord? Thank you for your prayers!

Praying this month
January 5,6 New Focusing Leaders Networks Start. The movement is growing with excellent facilitators leading these new groups.

January 8 Back to School. A weekly morning prayer for the Arts Community in Singapore continues. Kimberly starts teaching her second TCA College course on Monday nights: Theatre Arts & Ministry Applications. Goes through mid April.

January 15-18 Pastor’s Prayer Summit in Malaka, Malaysia. Pray for good connections with pastors who are needing the support and growth that a CRMS Network would provide. Kimberly goes along this time, so pray for the boys to be responsible and safe back in Singapore.

January 19 CRMS Board Meeting. Praising God for first time staff! Pray with us for guidance in establishing structure and for Andy Lim, as he makes a transition from his career with Salvation Army to raising support to work with CRMS.

January 25 Kimberly borrows Jim’s sermon on DeMystifying Mentoring when she speaks at TAGS: The Articulate Gallery Series. Pray that this evening with a larger group of artists will be a catalyst for their personal and spiritual growth. I hope to inspire them to get connected with the various people who will help them grow holistically.

January 30 Kimberly begins Exploring Drama Ministry (4 Tuesdays) with a Methodist Church Creative Arts Dept. is hosting and opening it to other churches. Pray that this will be a good equipping time as well as a chance for participants to grow in their walk with Christ by exploring creative ways to worship and serve him.

With love from Singapore!
