June in the East and West
Thanks for your prayers last month!
Jim is especially enthused about two areas of ministry from this past month:

May 12, 12 & 13 – CRM Singapore Board meeting and launch of two new Focusing leaders Networks. We are seeing growing enthusiasm in CRM Singapore, with more new mentoring networks starting this year than ever before, and none of them led by Jim! Praise the Lord! This is a first. Those he has mentored and trained are now leading all the networks, and the number of certifiedfacilitators has increased this year from 5 to 12. His challenge and prayer request now is to build organizationally to support continued growth and building more godly leaders in Singapore and beyond.
May 15-25 - Jim helped facilitate an annual meeting of China ministry leaders, and chaired a partnership of agencies focusing on Beijing Olympics outreach. Praise the Lord for significant developments in the progress of our partnership! After three years of planning, we have now turned a corner and are seeing the partners beginning to do the work for the outreach to become a reality. Plans are coming together for publishing, community events, handling visiting teams and working with local Christians.
What is really amazing to Jim is how the climate among local Christians is changing, growing and more open in China. He has had more contact with Chinese Christians in China in the past year than in the previous 8 years. Pray for healthy relationships that are growing slowly with outside Christians. This is crucial to their continued growth.
May into June for Kimberly was mostly wrapping up a school year with the boys and the Drama Workout kids from International Community School, preparing for a full summer, and being a cheerleader (and videographer) at rehearsals for some dancers who were putting together pieces for the plenary sessions of GoFest Asia, a youth missions conference here (June 6-10).

June 2 & 6th One nice little pie God’s given me to stick my fingers in these past few months: I met with 3 others to plan the curriculum for a new course at the Theological Centre for Asia: A certificate in Creative Arts Ministry. We plotted out what would be covered in a year with an eye to increasing it to a diploma then degree in the future. Thankful for email and phones (and my life membership in Christians in Theatre Arts); Dale Savidge, the executive director of CITA generously offered great help from afar. I’ll begin teaching one course in August. Thank you for your prayers for me. It’s been a wonderful year so far.
11-15 Tomorrow we head to southern California and spend a week with Jim’s parents in Fullerton adjusting to the different timezone and food portion sizes in the US. Super size us! We’ll stay connected through email and phone and return to Singapore the 8th of August.
16-21 We join in CRM’s quadrennial World Wide Conference at Westmont College in Santa Barbara. This is our chance to connect with the 300 CRM staff from around the world and their families, getting inspired, being inspiring
, and making helpful ministry connections.
22-26 We take a family trip up the coast to our old favorite holiday spots – Solvang and Carmel!
27-30 Kimberly and boys join in her mom’s annual camping trip to Doheny State Beach near Dana Point. Lots of fun for the boys running around wild all day while the moms get to sit and talk.
Along the way we hope to see many of you who are in southern California: July 1/2, 16th & 30th we’ll worship with friends at RHCC, July 8/9 we’ll be at FEFC.
Blessings and joy as you dive into the place(s) God has you for the summer!
