April Prayer
We were just finishing up our Easter week, as many of you were waking up to Easter morning…
On Thursday night we ate lamb indian roti pratas (flat bread) and dipped them in curry sauce while asking 5 kids around the table what they knew about that Last Supper night. Then we watched the movie Gospel of John. Free from any big church productions, I’ve been reading a 2005 novel by Anne Rice, CHRIST THE LORD alongside re-reading THE JESUS I NEVER KNEW by Phil Yancy. The reality of the story is very fresh for me this year. I hope that if you’ve been a Christian for awhile, you can find ways to not let the significance of our non-fiction story stay dear to your heart. To voluntarily go through what he did…what love for us!
Here’s a few things we’re praying for this month:
April 15-22 Jim is in China for a week with several CRM colleagues leading a training workshop for 30 mission leaders. Please pray for safety for the group, good rapport, and lots of insight and inspiration into the subject (coaching) and through the fellowship along the way.
April 26-27 is the launch retreat for two networks – one for senior pastors and one for church staff.
May 12-13 is the launch for two marketplace networks.
Following the two day retreats, these groups of 6-8 will continue to meet half a day monthly for a year. Please pray for a full group of participants with good learning attitudes and for the 6 Singaporean facilitators leading the groups: Shoo How Beng, Koh Seng Chor, Jimmy Tan, Patrick Chiow, Wu Shen Kong, and Dave Tang.

Family News:
Our family trip to Loonni’s village in Thailand was an outstanding adventure for the 4 of us. Thank you for your prayers with us about this trip. It was really amazing to experience their communal lifestyle, and learn to communicate and play with one another (our kids taught them games like 2 square, and pantomime while Loonni’s family taught our boys how to make soap bubbles or a pinwheel out of a torn leaf).

Drama for the children in Loonni’s Village.
We had some sweet times of prayer with Loonni, and for them. They sang for me, I sang for them. But mostly we did a lot of obsesrving…and smiling. Loonni was amazing as she spoke to them in Isaan and Thai and switch with us to Chinese and English. We have a little better understanding of poverty in the 21st century, but a lot more questions. We’ll be praying more for the children’s motivation to stay in school, and wise ways that Loonni can help motivate the older ones to work, and not just use the money she send home from her salary here.
So happy to share the joy of following a living God with you.
Hope you’ve had a wonderful Easter!

Jim’s Birthday April 3rd.
“May God our Father give you grace and peace.”
