October Prayer

Can it be the middle of October already?
We’ve had a relatively slow start to the month. This news will relieve those of you who are concerned that our schedule looks too full!

It’s been great getting to know the other families and staff at the new school. We’ve also been helping friends get settled here and putting the finishing touches on our own move-in projects from the summer. Jim leaves Thursday for 10 days in California (details below!) so we’re going to miss him here. Give him a kiss for us if you get to see him!

OCTOBER 20th is the CRM Day of Prayer.
If you haven’t heard of this, or haven’t had a chance to respond through the CRM office, please email me back how we can pray for you. It is such a joy to come alongside you through prayer. We’ve seen some special things happen over the years as we’ve joined supporters in praying for the things that are in your hearts and lives too. It is a privilege to be part of your lives in this way, especially since we are separated by so many miles and we don’t get to be part of your lives face to face as we have been in the past. Though we like to pray for you all the time, this is a day where we set aside a chunk of time to pray for for those who are supporting us in prayer and financial support. Please do let me know if you’d like us to be praying for something specifically.

Below you’ll find what we’re praying over
for our lives in Singapore this month.

September 30th
Tyler & Cameron’s new international school has a day off for “fall break” on the same day that their old Singaporean school was celebrating Children’s Day. We went back to the old school and had a wonderful time reconnecting with their teachers and classmates. They are missed. Please pray that God will direct us to how to maintain some of these relationships with Singaporean kids now that we’ve moved from that neighborhood.

October 1 Performance “Words Don’t Come Easy.”
(October 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 – Sunday afternoon rehearsals)
It is a joy to keep learning this form with Tapestry Playback Theatre, a group of actors who are also Christians. We now work together easily and are still discovering ways to use it as a ministry. Kimberly will stay behind when the rest of the group goes on a mission trip to Cambodia later this year. Pray for us as we search for more avenues to share our faith and the love of God through this unconventional way.

October 5, 6, 7, 27
Jim holds his Mentoring Network Meetings on these days. Throughout the month he has individual appointments with those who are in the many groups he is facilitating. Praise God for the stream of positive feedback he gets from leaders whose lives are impacted. They are finding clearer direction from God as Jim coaches them individually throughout each month.

INTERNATIONAL NIGHT. At the end of their first “Spirit Week,” the kid’s have their first performance with 14 others who’ve joined the Drama Club. Kimberly wrote a script to introduce Singapore culture and “Singlish” to an audience of about 600 students and their families. It was a big hit.

Cameron is the 2nd Jedi from the Left. On Career Day, guess who was a Movie Director? Kimberly’s having fun with the boys leading the 3rd-8th grade Drama Workout on Thursdays after school. Praise God for the school and the joy and new learning & ministry opportunities it is bringing our family.

October 13
We have a lunch date at the airport before Jim travels to Los Angeles area to share with different groups about ministry in China.

October 17-18
Jim chairs the Beijing Olympics Outreach committee meeting. The members of this collaboration will also be in town for..

October 19-22nd CHINA CHALLENGE (a Christian Conference focusing on ministries in the Chinese world)
Jim will be recruiting for CRM ministry and facilitating meetings on Marketplace Ministry (specifically Executive Coaching and leadership development) in China. Pray with us that the work Jim is doing (research for future ministry to executives in China, and his current ministry collaborations), will result in the leaders of this RISING ASIAN GIANT becoming followers of Jesus, who are leading a CHRISTIAN NATION! (How’s that for vision?)

While Jim’s away, the mice will play…. Kimberly joins our church drama ministry for an evening retreat at a nearby hotel (14th), may audition for a December production at the Arts House downtown (15th), Neelam is spending time with the kids and I (She’s one of the 5 stars who isn’t a Christian), I’ll meet up with some women to learn more about their ministry is in Spiritual Direction (19th), and host a worship celebration/fellowship for Christian Artists here in Singapore (TBA!). However, unless I hear an audible voice from the LORD, I won’t be doing any more babysitting. I didn’t do so well the last time I tried (I’d say Pray for baby Jodee,… but I don’t think she suffered any permanent damage from an hour in my care):

October 25, Jim comes back at 5AM! Jet lagged surely, but home again!
That night he hosts a dessert at our house for Christian CEOs considering joining a “CEO Forum” group.

October 29-30
We’re having a family get away to a Lodge in nearby Malaysia (about an hour away). We will even get to have horse riding lessons with the kids!

Blessings and Great Joy as you serve Him too!
