September Prayer

It may be a season of Fall for you, but personally, it’s Spring for us in Singapore.

Many have prayed for us to make more friends here. On the 2nd of September, Our CRM colleagues the Webbs relocated here from Indonesia. They have been friends in CRM for 5+ years and now they are living in not only the same city, but the same building. Their primary aged children are going to the same school as our boys. It feels a bit like Family Camp to have them here! One of the men in Jim’s networks is also in our building and one of Kimberly’s 5 stars is next door. Later this month, good friends from our days in Kunming, China move in nearby. The children have also made an easy transition to their new school. They are happy campers. All month we’ve been watching the news of Hurricane Katrina, and we’re praying for the displaced and homeless of the Gulf States in USA. With you, we’re praying that they’ll soon be securely settled and feeling secure in God’s grace too. In every circumstance, May God’s glory and grace be made known.

Here’s what happened/happening for the Creasmans in September
(If you prayed in August, a report is below)

2 – Jim hosts a dessert for 10 leaders to learn about “CEO Forum” in the US. Christian business leaders in Singapore learned from Dick Schwartz how get a similar ministry started. Please pray for the Lord to raise up leaders for marketplace ministries in Singapore.

8 – Jim led a meeting of the CRM Singapore Executive Committee as they discussed financial procedures and personnel issues to keep the society growing and serving churches and Christians in Singapore. Please pray for the board to be disciplined to focus on strategic, long-term issues and not get bogged down with administrative details.

9, 27 – Jim hosts international conference calls with CRM directors in countries around the world and the steering committee for Beijing Olympics outreach. Please pray for good rapport for the team members and clear direction on planning and action.

14, 15, 16, 22 – Focusing Leaders Network meetings – this month helping leaders focus on the mentoring relationships God is calling them to pursue, both those helping them grow and those they will pour their lives into. Please pray for the Lord to direct our meetings and empower these leaders to focus on important relationships.

18th MID AUTUMN FESTIVAL – We’re hosting a SETTLING IN SINGAPORE dessert for people who’ve recently moved to Singapore. There are many families and teachers new to the school this year. Kim’s written an article for those in transition.

New for Kimberly this month: Five Stars is taking a 6 week break. Kim will be meeting with the gals individually. She’s begun going to Moms-in-Touch at the new school (what a treat to pray with other parents!), teaching a Thursday art class for ESL students (all Koreans), and leading a drama club (3-8th graders) at the International Community School. Another new role is in “pastoring” the Tapestry Playback theatre group (Sunday afternoons & Monday nights).

Throughout the month, Jim has personal coaching appointments with many of the 23 Focusing Leaders Network participants, helping them hear more clearly and respond more faithfully to what God is saying to them. Please pray for Jim’s growth as a coach that can help participants listen to what the Lord is saying to them and provide support that can help them take action in obedience.

Thank you for prayers for us in August!
Here’s how things turned out:

Aug 3, 4, 16, 17 Jim leads networks of Singaporean pastors and Christian leaders focusing on spiritual renewal, character formation, and skill development. “We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom. ” Col 1:9

THANKS for prayers and for continued growth in these leaders’ lives.

Aug 9 We held a housewarming on Singapore’s National Day. A group of nearly 50 came, including many guests who’d been a part of the Asia Playback Gathering. Here’s an article about Reconciliation with the Japanese.

Aug 11 CRM Singapore 3rd Annual Meeting. There was a great sense of enthusiasm and vision at our annual meeting. Great support from key Christian leaders in the city, and three experienced CRM mentors who joined our board.

Aug 11 Jim presented opportunities for Beijing Olympics outreach at the Sports Coalition Singapore vision meeting, encouraging Singapore churches and ministries to find ways to minister through sports. Made two good connections with others at the meeting who were interested in partnering together to help Singapore churches get involved in outreach opportunities.

Aug 11, 18, 20, 21 Kimberly taught a 10-hour scriptwriting class for people from local churches. We added an extra session it went so well! (“Buy 4 get 1 free” is what one student joked). Course feedback from students is posted on the web. On the 24th we held an Enacted Prayer Workshop for Christian dramatists here, and K!M’s been doing some more commercial singing! Check it all out on her blog.

Aug 15 Tyler (7th grade) and Cameron (3rd grade) started at the International Community School, a school for missionary kids and other foreigners. The staff and teachers see their roles as a ministry, and we’re glad for the input and blessing they will be for our family in the coming years. Please pray for good relationships, a growing desire to learn, and growing awareness of their gifts and how they can serve God. Thank God with us for being approved for financial aid.

Aug 18 Jim holds a quarterly meeting for church and mission agency leaders forcusing on China ministry, to learn from each other and share resources. We had a good group of 27 leaders from various churches and agencies sharing for 2 hours what they were learning and opportunities for collaborating.

Aug 22 – Sept 2 Jim travels in three cities in China meeting with ministry leaders. One of his network members in Singapore, a godly and gifted man who is CEO of a large corporation, traveled with him to explore marketplace mentoring opportunities. Wow! A tremendous trip where we learned a lot! Thanks for your prayers for protection and good connections.

As always, we value your partnership in prayers and financial support in the work we are doing for the kingdom of God in Asia. Thank you to those who’ve also shared your prayer requests with us. Thank you for the privilege of supporting you in prayer.

With Love from Singapore,
Kimberly & Jim
