February Prayer

It’s the Year of the Rooster!
It’s also the time of year for Spring Cleaning!
Now that I have a new hard drive, my cleaning up in has been in my ADDRESS BOOK.
I’ve added a few new names to the list, and may have some old addresses or duplicates.
Please understand that this Chick is completely right brained.
So, will you help me out and let me know if I’m spamming you?
I promise to try my best to get it straightened out!

We’ve had a sweet time signing Chinese New Year’s cards, praying for you as we signed, and looking over your pictures and Christmas letters from the last few years. If you don’t get your card from us, let me know! I may not have your snail mail address! –K!Mbo

Thank you for praying for us in January:

My FIVE STARS continue to meet, and I really enjoyed the short Intro to Counseling course last month. The new Friday morning Journey of Desire group has met 3 times now. Want to join our journey on-line? Check out http://journeyofdesire.blogspot.com. I’ve written about my first Playback Theatre performance below.

Jim’s 3 meetings in Hong Kong were exciting and profitable. We learned from each other, developed stronger working relationships, and made some good progress on planning for the future. He’ll continue to work with these groups in the coming year(s).
Beijing Olympics Outreach planning.
Ministry Leaders meeting about strategies for reaching Chinese cities.
Leading a Focused Leaders Network with the leaders of a China Mission group
Also, Jim’s New Pastors’ Mentoring Networks in Singapore are off to a really good start. Thanks for your prayers that contributed to good rapport and an attitude of listening to what God wanted to say to us.

Please PRAY for us in February about these opportunities:

Jim continues Pastors Mentoring Networks. Please pray for their growth in learning from each other and hearing what God wants to teach them as they meet as a group once a month, then for personal coaching appointments through the month.

Thursday mornings Kimberly has the Five Stars, and Thursday evenings will be teaching drama at our church. We continue to plan on a move mid-year, so I’m filling out applications for the Christian International School and we continue to pray for God’s will in a new home.

10th The Creasmans are hosting an open-house party for friends here who have no family to visit on Chinese New Year. Pray that we’ll be a good model of a Christian family and be a blessing to our guests who might be missing family or feeling lonely.

13th Tyler & Kimberly started leading kindergarten worship at church at least once a month. We’re putting those guitar lessons to use in ministry already! Ty gets a kick out of the little ones and their comments and questions.

15th Kimberly begins rehearsals for THE BRIDGE. She’s directing this sketch for a local church’s Easter services, and offered a learning opportunity for those from other churches who want to learn about the process. She has only 3 in the cast, and 10 who’ve signed up to come to rehearsals and learn some about directing!

21 – 24th Jim travels to China to explore ministries that are reaching urban professionals through business strategies. Please pray for good connections and ministry insight for him.

25 – 26th Jim meets with ministry leaders building partnerships for pioneering evangelism among unreached ethnic groups. Please pray for good relationships and progress in collaboration.

Answered prayer about the ministry applications of Playback Theatre:
Last Saturday I was in my first PLAYBACK THEATRE performance. It’s a style of improvised theatre that invites audience members to share their stories. As actors, we give a Play back to the story teller as a gift of theatre. I’d seen this form of theatre 2+ years ago and immediately envisioned ways it could be used in sharing the gospel. Late last year I taught an acting class for the existing team and asked them if in the New Year I could join them for awhile to learn the playback traditions… In January they invited me and 2 other actors (who are Christians) to join them. Now the current group is 6 of us who are all believers. We began praying as part of our rehearsal process, and prayed at length before the showcase Saturday night. WOW. It was an amazing night! Now, remember, this is not a church or Christian event. They advertise the theme (This time it was Reunions and Farewells), sell tickets, invite the community, and friends etc. The evening of the show, when we started inviting people up to share their stories, the first 3 of the 4 who shared were Christians! In some way they all shared some aspect of their faith in their reunion/farewell story. It wasn’t preachy, and we were sharing the gospel by “playing back” their stories. The audience LOVED it! People hung around for 2 hours afterward asking questions and just enjoying the “after glow” of interactive theatre. I’m jazzed! When I think of the applications for missions…emotional healing for tsunami victims, etc. etc. etc. it’s pretty exciting.

Let us know how we can be praying for you!

Kimberly, Jim, Tyler and Cameron
